Discovering Sofia, Bulgaria

Hello first of all, now you are probably thinking to yourself, “what on earth does he want to explore in Sofia”? First of all, it's a legitimate question because that's exactly what I thought. But there is a reason why I ended up here. I have a long journey ahead of me and I want to discover as much as possible along the way and also travel as cheaply as possible. Since my first stop was supposed to be Dubai, I needed the cheapest and most interesting connection from Germany to get there.

When I was looking for cheap flights, my favorite flight comparison provider suggested me momondo.com the following:

Parked the rental car quickly 🙂

Monday 02.12. from Cologne to Sofia for 19 euros and then on December 3rd. from Sofia directly to Dubai, for 48 euros! How cool is that, for 67 euros from Cologne to Dubai. Ok well, I needed a place to stay in Sofia, and that's where my favorite accommodation site comes into play, Airbnb offers you private accommodation and local activities at affordable prices from private individuals. So I quickly looked for something suitable and found my own room with a shower for 8 euros a night, right in the city and with a local guide who could definitely give me a few interesting tips.

If you don't know Airbnb yet, you are welcome to take a look at one of these links here, regardless of whether you want to look for accommodation yourself or whether you want to become a host for others yourself.

But what is so interesting to discover in Sofia now?

So I can't say much about it because the time was far too short. But one thing I noticed immediately is that the people there are very friendly and helpful to strangers. No matter where I looked for something, there was immediately someone there who wanted to help.

Then I noticed something that really surprised me: the prices for public transport. From the airport you can take the metro to the city in about 40 minutes, and the whole thing for 80 cents. Now imagine that for Düsseldorf. As far as the food is concerned, it looks the same, large kebab with fries and cola for 4 euros, and very tasty.

But not everything is so cheap there, a liter of diesel costs 1.15 euros there too and yet there are a lot of old cars driving around there, don't let Greta see that 🙂

Unfortunately I wasn't able to take any pictures because I landed late and it snowed the next morning 🙂 didn't go well with summer clothes.

But I will definitely visit this city again and then for a few days, but now I'm off to Dubai and I'm looking forward to reporting to you from Dubai.

Thank you for your interest in my blog, if you are on tour and need a photographer for your story, don't hesitate to write to me. In the next few days I will also be posting a blog post about my travel equipment online, where you will find out how I store everything and what I bring with me. And all this with just a backpack.

With this in mind, collect experiences and not things, things will no longer be worth anything in a short time, you will have your experiences forever!

PS: There's an interesting story coming from Dubai, something I've never experienced before. So don't forget to stop by again.
